1988 - 2008 – As time goes by...
... 1988? In the year the company VILLIGER SECURITY was established, many things were different and many things have since developed further and some things are today in the Jubilee year 2008, more up-to-date than ever. The daily retail cash quantities were at that time dropped at the main bank using cash drop boxes usually well-concealed in plastic bags. However, already in 1988 new technologies like RFID were indicative a new security approach, initiated by Europe-wide increasing brutality and quality in connection with armed robberies from armoured cars and in connection with "cash in transit" operations. In December 1988, for example, the name HEROS Geldtransporte hit the headlines for the first time after a brutal armed robbery involving bodily harm with fatal consequences, and just before that members from the Red Brigades robbed in the course of a spectacular armed robbery on a cash transport two million francs killing two policemen. “Increased criminal risk and risk to life due to cash flows” was at that time the simple explanation accompanied by a helpless shrug of the shoulders. For Peter Villiger this was reason enough and the incentive to implement in the same year his vision of his first cash transport case with integrated security. The idea behind this: stained cash is useless to criminals because it cannot be returned undiscovered in to the common cash flow… Until today, over 200,000 VILLIGER cases are seeing daily service, in the meantime integrated within highly complex complete solutions of non-contact Cash Transit, and in the meantime having undergone many further development cycles and having become, with a clear lead, the most secure means of transporting banknotes and valuables. The idea at that time of pre-emptive security solutions is thus spreading more and more, trust in the reliability of our systems has grown – and thus success and steady growth of our company. Through a worldwide consulting, sales and service network we are covering from our Switzerland location in the meantime the needs of numerous customers and organisations in over 40 countries. Innovative, sustained and quality-oriented in accordance with our motto Safety. Security. Solutions. For 20 years now, the name of VILLIGER stands for this. |
